FIFA World Futsal Cup 2012 Thailand


The AFC Futsal Championship 2012, which serves as the region's qualifying competition, will be played from 25 May to 1 June 2012.

Preliminary stages

West Asian Zone

Qatar, Kuwait and Lebanon came through their nine-team regional qualifiers to reach the AFC Futsal Championship.
East Asia ZoneChina PR, Korea Republic und Chinese Taipei have qualified from the seven-team section in East Asia to reach the AFC Futsal Championship.

ASEAN Zone Thailand*, Indonesia und Australia were the teams to qualify from this eight-team section to reach the AFC Futsal Championship.

South and Central Zone: As the Maldives withdrew from the preliminary competition, the AFC Futsal comitee decided to award the other three countries - Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - a spot at the AFC Futsal Championship.  
Final stage
AFC Futsal Championship: China PR, Korea Republic, Chinese Tapei, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkmenistan, Kirgisistan, Tajikistan and Lebanon have all booked their place at the AFC Futsal Championship. Iran, Uzbekistan, Japan and hosts UAE qualified automatically.

The top four finishers at the AFC Futsal Championship will qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012.

      CAF

      The African qualifiers consist of three rounds, contested over two home and away legs.

      First Round: Four teams - Gabon, Guinea, Zimbabwe and Sudan - will compete, with the winners advancing to next round.

      Dates: 6-8 April and 20-22 April 2012

      Second Round: 12 teams - Morocco, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Zambia, Nigeria, Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa, Cameroun, Libya, plus the two winners from the first round - will compete, with the six winners advancing to next round.

      Dates: 4-6 May and 18-20 May 2012.

      Third Round: The six winners from the second round will face off in home and away legs for the continent's three slots at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012.
      Dates: 8-10 June and 22-24 June 2012.

          UEFA

          Draw: July 2011.

          Europe’s first qualifying round took place in October 2011, with the main round (which consisted of mini-tournaments involving seven groups of four) following in December. After the UEFA Futsal EURO, which took place in Croatia between 31 January and 11 February 2012 - being won by Spain, seven home-and-away play-offs involving the 14 teams below will take place between 25-28 March and 8-11 April 2012.
          The qualifiers are as follows:
          Norway – Italy
          Slovenia – Czech Republic
          Azerbaijan – Russia
          Slovakia – Spain
          Hungary – Serbia
          Belarus – Portugal
          Romania – Ukraine
          The winners of these two-legged ties will qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012.

              CONCACAF

              Eight teams will participate in the CONCACAF Futsal Championship between 2-8 July at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Seven teams have already qualified: Costa Rica, Guatemala, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, USA and St. Kitts & Nevis.

              The last berth for the CONCACAF finals will be decided by a two-game play-off between Canada and El Salvador on dates to be announced. In early July, Canada will face El Salvador to play off for the last place at the CONCACAF Futsal Championship.

              The top four finishers at the CONCACAF Futsal Championship will go on to compete at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012.

                  OFC

                  OFC’s preliminary competiton was played from 16 to 20 May 2011 at the Vodafone Arena in Fiji, with the Solomon Islands securing the continent’s solitary slot at Thailand 2012.

                  Participating teams: Fiji, Kiribati, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

                    CONMEBOL

                    The South American qualifying competition is scheduled to take place from 15-22 April 2012 in Brazil. The group draw is as follows:
                    Group A: Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Bolivia
                    Group B: Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador

                    The four semi-finalists will qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012.

                        Host Country

                        Thailand's national futsal team qualified automatically for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012 as hosts.
